Does the live rock require a certain duration of light. I just aquired a 10K bulb for my 40 gal hex. Will this be sufficient for roughly 30lbs of rock?

Depends what's one the rock. The rock itself, most importantly the bacteria inside, could live in complete darkness just fine. From there, the coralline algaes don't need any but loose their color without light (they become white), and then any hitchhiking anemones and corals do need alot of light. So basically, if there's isn't any corals or anemones, then your bulb is fine.
