It very well could, but what type of cichlids are we talking? Some herbivores and many of the omnivores don't do so hot if bloodworms are fed as a staple part of the diet.
Also, be careful...bloodworms can cause you to get a rash, so be prepared to discontinue using them if that happens. The body also tends to become more allergic as the years pass, so you might have to discontinue use at any time.

Agree with above statements...I'm allergic to bloodworms, myself, but I just avoid touching the worms. If you have african cichlids, then you really want to avoid foods high in protein and stick with the algaes and veggies. Crustaceans like brine shrimp and krill are alot more likely to "color up" your fish...mainly the red colors. Warm, clean water and a good diet in general will improve your fishes' health; and inturn, they'll look their best.

No prob. The Trimac will be okay on bloodworms, but I still wouldn't use them as the staple part of the diet (too fatty). Cichlid sticks are good and bloodworms make for the good occasional treat. Don't forget a little Romaine lettuce or courgette for the bad boy, either! :)

i bought a little flat of the hikari blood worms and my fish love them! only 5.49 canadian for like 24? cubes I think. You say brine shrimp are better? I will get that next time then. only 50 cents more :0 and I want to see which ones they will like better anyway.

how do you suggest feeding things like lettuce? tie it to a rock on the bottom? I have never understood this?

I've seen it just thrown in there in a book by Stratton, skewered to the bottom in some threads here, and God knows what else...
