my clown loach keeps eating my plants. :wall:

I bought a bunch more plants and the amazons already have holes in them.

:swear:

Are you sure it's the loaches that are causing the holes?

If they are, switch to anubias and java ferns. Nothing I know of will eat those plants.

I'm sure. I watch them do it. Here's a picture of what I have before they starting chewing.

clowns can be funny. I have 4 that are 9 years old.

the first few years I have had them they lived in a planted tank.

then last year after having them in a tank with fake plants for the last few years, I moved them back into a tank with plants...and they eat them.

they are back in the fake plant tank LOL

so far they are leaving the straight leaves alone, but they do tear apart java.

The swords are going to have to go.

Clowns usually dont eat plants. They do hole-punch them though, for whatever reason. So far my little hole punchers havent caused enough damage to say so though, maybe I'm lucky. Adults are known to be able to uproot most plants, even being able to pry Java Fern from driftwood and rocks in there never ending search for food. I hope mine stay plant friendly as I am setting up a quite large plant tank for them.

they like the new leaves for some reason. I have an older sword plant that they peck at occasionally. They don't bother the older leaves as much. If I get a new leaf, they chew it up as soon as it opens.

Mine have trouble pulling my plants up since I bought the weights.
