Anyone know are the Tetra Tech Power Filters really that much better than the old ones? Also it says you could use the new filters in the old power filters. Anyone know the pro's or cons to this. I did notice the new green filters are much more money. Sorry I am not a newbie I thought I was in the general Fresh water page. If you can move a post I can't figure out how.

do yourself a favor and junk the tetra-tech at your earliest convenience. god, i hate mine with a passion....... it's never worked as advertised really, even when it's running right. ( i own
a 500 that is just there as a backup now. ) emperor and aquaclear and even whisper make a much better product.
as far as the "green" filters, to me, they seem to be too fine and clog VERY rapidly. all of my big tanks are over-filtered and those pads still clog up in a couple weeks. i switched to the normal ones now..... if i need to filter fine particles i use my diatom.
sorry if this post is sort of harsh, but i have been very displeased with that tt filter, and it cost too much to just throw away.

I agree, i have seen tetra only make one useful product and thats their whisper heaters just because they have a bit of style added to them for cheap. Yet all the companys mechanical products blow...

Agreed. Big, bulky, makes slurping sounds. Mine's sitting in the basement, waiting to be sold on ebay.

In all my reading of aquaria boards, I've yet to see anyone say anything nice about the TetraTec filters...
