View Full Version : Who laid these eggs?
In my tank i have 2 bronze corys, 1 very young (.5" long) red tailed shark and a flying fox. I never noticed and swelling on them in the last few days but today when i returned home there are eggs on the glass and all over the plants, little white eggs. Anyone help me figure out who they came from? I'd like to possible breed and if i need to find the fox or shark a mate i want to do so :).
Thanks for your time

Ya the cories. The tightest fish in the sea:D
if it's the cory's or whoever what do i now do with the eggs? do i leave them or put them in a different tank? i'm not sure never done this before but it's what i want to do :)

I'd say to let this batch go, and put the Cories in a separate tank for the next spawning...but removing the Cories directly after egg-laying and fertilization, as they are inveterate egg-eaters.
how long should i wait till putting the in their own tank?

would it be possible to remove the leaves the eggs are on and place that in a side tank? Would they hatch or do i have to wait for the fertilization???

If they've been laid, they've likely been fertilized. You'll need methylene blue and good flow over the eggs in the side tank.
how long would i be expected to wait for them to hatch?

I'm going to reply so that you don't think that I'm being rude. I don't know off the top of my head, and my Cory books are about 100 miles away at present. I apologize.
not a problem thankyou so much you've been very informative :) I'll keep you all posted if i get anywhere

I still feel bad. It looks like the reason why I didn't remember might have something to do with the fact that the temp doesn't make much of a difference: http://userpages.umbc.edu/~rrhudy1/cory.htm#bred
(This link is solid. I checked it against my books a few months ago.)

Hey, let me know how the fry are doing if you get any out of the deal. I might try to breed my albinos over the summer. (I may get a few more before that happens, but I'm thinking about doing some breeding for fun and for the ability to have more of these wonderful fish!)
