Alright. I've been all over these meassage boards the past few weeks, and everybody has helped with any question I threw out there....

Here it is...
I have two filters running for my 96 gal tank rena filstar xp4~450gph and a penguin bio-wheel pro30~270gph. Neither of them is running completely full blast...media, foam filter on pwr head, etc...

The problem is that the spray bar creates tons of bubbles. I mean literallyTHOUSANDS OF TINY BUBBLES. Is this Good or Bad? When everything is running, there are bubbles everywhere. The tank never seems to look clear. Will this stop eventually?

Why is this happening?

IMO...I do not like bubbles, the bursting bubbles spray water and deposits everywhere. To lessen the bubbles (if you want), just lower the spray bar. There will be NO bubbles if spray bar is under water.

The spraybar is submerged about 2 inches below the waterline already....

Maybe I didn't describe it acurately...It's the return water from the filter. Long tube/holes, 10 inches long, attaches vertically.

I feel like such an idiot.....

First, which filter return is causing the issue..?

First off, let me say thanks for answering all my questions.

My xp4 cannister is blowin bubbles like a mofo. They aren't like the normal sized bubbles you would get if there was air in the lines, more like tiny tiny little things that took me a day or so to finally figure out were bubbles.

I have 2 different grades of mesh filter, followed by 2 levels of bio-media, chased with the whole bottom basket of 2 grades of sponge.

I don't get it.

hmm.. where is your filter's intake located? if your filter is sucking in air before the impeller the impeller would chop up the bubbles small enough that it would come out like this. i would check the seals on the filter and all that as well.

Thats what ours was doing, i happen to like some bubbles from air stones etc, some of the small ones were getting sucked in then exhausted,i just moved the stone in question, problem solved, not sure tho how you could be getting air in your system other than some kind of seal issue....:)

I'll pop the top and check the seals...at least the xp4 has an easy pop top.....

easy, and maybe leaky, that is...

I did it. No leaks. Am I just stoned and those bubbles are always there? I'm noticing them coming from my biowheel too. I feel like an idiot, but I gotta know.
