i have a few empty 55g tanks. im thinking of starting a community in one and here is what i plan on stocking it with(all will be small when first introduced and can be moved to a different tank if needed):
2 x juvenile EBJD ~3"
4 x angelfish
2 x polypterus (not sure what species, probably a senegal, palmas, or ornate)

would these guys all get along?

having all of those fish in a 55 gallon would be considered OS. JD's have the potential to get to at least 10 inches, so if you were able to find a breeding pair that would fully stock the tank. if you cannot find a breeding pair, your best bet would be to go with only one for the tank.

i was thinking about that and since they would be young would that be an ok stocking for about year

He didn't say JD's he said EBJD's and those are generally smaller. I think they stay around 15 cm's which is like 5-6 inches I believe.

To the OP... I wouldn't trust any variation of dempsey with angels myself.

I think out of what you want to put in the tank, you would only be able to fit the two ebjds, but only if they are a breeding pair. If they are not, they will probably fight. I would not recommend putting Angels with ebjds. If you want, you can have one tank of a breeding pair of ebjds and one tank with about 5-6 angels.
