Aloha everyone!

Each time I go to the LFS, I see those cute lil Neolamprologus brichardi swimmin' around their tank. I was wondering if anyone out there has those and would like to hear your experiences and anything about those cichlids. I think that I will be getting those for my next tank project!

Unless you have a tank larger than 55 gallons, keep them by themselves. They're great fish, high personality, and their young stay with them and help raise the next bach of fry - it's like they set up their own little community complete with their own heirarchy.

All the above is cool, but because they are so organized they don't like any other fish in their territory. Their like sharks with fins when it comes to enemies in their territory.

Not mine, but I'm a little biased toward the shellies...

I've got a feeling shellies will become my favorite once I experience them :)

If you like brichardis, you'll like the little N. multifasciatus shellie. Picture brichardi personality, in a 1.5 inch fish, but that also doubles as a minature bulldozer. They're a hoot.

Thanks for all of your responses!

Also, I see these little yellow cichlid fish in the LFS... really small ones. They are a light-medium yellow and they are really cute. Does anyone know what these might be? I only know that the label at the shop says something with "yellow"...

Thanks!

Wow those look nice... the ones in the store weren't quite that bright, but probably because they are just juveniles.

I really like the N. brichardi's because of their appearance... very handsome fish. I really like the white lining on the long fin extentions. Very nice to look at!

We used to have orange tilapia from our local river here in a large 100-plus gallon tank. They grew huge and would spawn often. It was very interesting to watch them from building a next and then holding the eggs in their mouth, then their young...

Thanks!
