a long time ago 3 false SAEs were sold to me as otos, and i've thought that's what they were until yesterday when i found out what they really are. i read the article on them on The Krib, but i want personal information.... do they really get up to 6"? does a 29 gal seem like it would be enough? any other info would be appreciated, thanks.

Garra taeniata, one of the two species thought to be the False SAE has been renamed Garra tibanica and reaches 10.5 cm max (A little over 4 inches).

I wouldn't necessarily trust them in a 29 gallon, but I think that you could tell best by keeping an eye on them...they are likely to be quarrelsome but may not be.
If what you have is the flying fox then as long as you give them little caves to stay in they tend to be less agressive, at least in my tank they are. I built some caves using large pieces of granite and silicone from the pet store. This seems to have made them very happy, though they chase each other a lot at feeding time so I make sure to drop sinking tablets on opposite ends of the tank for them. One of mine is already 3 inches and he has only been around for 5 months or less. My friend's has grown to 5 inches in a year.

these are definately not flying foxes, real SAEs, or ottos. it's for sure they are "false siamensis"....
