125 liters of space/for a single fish but what?????

if I had a 125 liter (33 gallon) and were only going to put a single specimen in it I would undoubtly go with a male convict. To answer your question properly I'd have to ask why you only want a single specimen. Is it because of space or is that all you want. If its because of space I could assure you that you can fit a pair of con's in that tank as well as a pair of firemouths jewels, kribs etc etc. If you only "want" a single fish just because, the only one I would go with if it were me is a male con because they are small enough to fit and hold the aggressive attitude and get the nunchal hump on their head to create an all around good looking and impressive little friend.

That's what I'm getting as a single fish for my tank (should the guy with the free Spilurum on another forum never reply back to me), so I don't think that you could go wrong with that...but I'm biased! :)

convicts are very very nice, and i was so close to getting one for my latest tank but at the last minute i was "pursuaded" into a pair of jewel cichlids.(ie my gf was all like so...you want convicts?......they are..........................................nice. OOOHH LOOK AT THOSE NICE JEWELS!) but im happy they are very very colorful.

I have been having a bit of trouble getting them to come out of their hidey holes but I have finally figured out what was going on. Barely a week in the tank and they have fry :D This is the first fish that has EVER bred for me I am so happy hehe. I cant comment on their behaviour because of what i just said. thought it was cute to see them peeking out at us from behind stuff when we went by. but the colors on them is just amazing!

hopefully i can get another smaller tank and do convicts soon :)

and then a 55 for some tropheus
and then a 200 for a jag pair
and then a pond
and then.. *COUGH* er nm :D

Yeah, be like me, go with the Spilurum. (I know from other threads that you don't necessarily wanna be like me, Hanif, so I'll leave the Con option open...you won't hurt my feelings either way.)
