Just wondering how many people actually quarantine their fish, etc. before they release into the display tank. I fully intend to just because of past ich-y experiences, but it seems that I've been reading posts about drip acclimation and then just releasing.

Got burned with ich the first time, even though the tank was empty. I learned that time. After that, it was 6 and 4 weeks. I did the neons in numbers of 3 and 4.

I suppose it depends what it is, I have always quarrantined fish (had my bad experience as a kid when i was into cichlids). Now that I'm into reef it's a toss up. I quarantined my corals and anemone but havent worried about cnails and crabs. Which leaves me wondering if I shoul?

You should have an option for "quarantine sometimes". I make it a point to QT fish like tangs (ich) and clownfish (brook), but I didn't QT my chromis. They just seem to stress too much in QT and seemed to do much better if I can get them in the main tank quickly.

Chromis are a perplexing fish to me, on one hand can be very hardy to poor water conditions but they seem to stress out so easy when going through QT, dips or tank moves. They are the only fish I've lost so far.

I've never, ever quarantined a fish. I believe that if you buy quality fish and have a good sized tank theres no need to QT.

Interesting results. I was almost certain that most of eveyone quarantined their fish before release.

I was particularly interested in what was said about the chromis since I am planning on adding those as my first fish. I was concerned about QT for them but only because it seemed putting a school in a 10gallon QT would be cruel.

Keep 'em coming. Interesting.

wow, i was surprised to see the results of this poll, i checked never which is not true, its more of a sometimes for me.... but i don't fall under the every time category either...

Good poll idea.

Depends on where I buy my fish. I have an EXCELLENT LFS that quarantines for me for 2 weeks - saves the pain but when I want the fishy, i have to wait.

If it is a new tank and all the fish come from the same LFS, I dont quarantine.

Otherwise, into the QT they go. I have lost too many fish otherwise.

I wish I had put "sometimes" as a choice seeing as some do it conditionally. I suppose just posting "sometimes" is better since then an explanation as to why can be expressed.

My LFS does as well. And the quality of the stock is outstanding.
