Hi
I’m after a bit of advice again (sorry but it all seems to be take and no give at the moment). I am in the middle of setting up a couple of tanks and re joining the fish keeping fold after a long absence so I am not up on modern practices . I am going to use partial under gravel filters using the power heads on reverse flow, (a new concept to me, partial to allow plants to grow) combined with external filters but now live in a hard water part of England and was wondering if there was a way to condition the water before filling the tanks. I would use rain water but I am unsure about the pollution etc. I fancy a tank based on Discus and possibly a community tank.

Reverse Osmosis filtration or Water Deionization kits would work best.

Well you lost me straight away reverse osmosis I have come across at work but I was hoping to treat the water once then do the water changes with de ionised or de min water. I may have to change my species for hard water lovers as if I buy any equipment me and my new tanks may be looking for new accommodation.
PS the site has me down as junior but realy I am cracking on a bit
