What is a good amount of fish for a 120 gallon tank?

I have a red parrot, clownknife and lima shovelnose catfish in there so far.

I wanted to get 2 clown loaches a pleco and a Frontosa.

is that too much?

Yeah i think the fish will be fine. the 3 now dont bother each other at all and the loaches and pleco i see no probs with. just the frontosa might not like it.but i will see

Clown Knives get to be about 42"--that's large enough to take out some of the other fish if they grow faster. If it doesn't, then it may be shovelnose food. Just my $.02

Oh, and another thing, Fronts like different water parameters from the others, and like to be kept in groups. That 120 would make a nice species tank for Fronts if that's your thing...

All but the dominant one...that individual likes small groups of Fronts, but the Tiger Barb theory comes into play for these fish...the more you have, the less one can single another out!

Clown loaches, unless really large, will most likely become food for the shovelnose. Don't underestimate how much they can fit in their mouths, and how much they can eat at one time.

Yeah i have 3 loaches they are by far my favorites.

Yes they are very good size no way that shovelnose is getting these bad boys in his mouth.

I have also decided to get rid of the Clownknife.Think i will turn him in at my lfs tomorrow.

I really want a Electric Blue Jack Dempsey!
