Hey everyone, heres a new 10gl tank i just set up. Its about as basic as you can get it. New Power Filter, mixed colored gravel, glass tank and water conditioned with three fish lol. The fish I put in are coming out tomorrow so dont worry, they are just in there for space temporary. This tank will be planted in about a week, reason I say that is because im getting a hood with a highpowered flouresant bulb so the plants flourish well with daily 12 hour light...

Heres a picture of the tank as one now, Its been setup as of 5 days.

The plants im adding are...

2 Hygrophila difformis "Synnema"

4 Aponogeton ulvaceus

1 Anubias Frazeri

and 2 Sagittaria platyphylla

The tank will be running DIY CO2 and I will be adding Liquid Fertilizers. As for everything else I am seeding this tank with existing filter medias and such. Im not too sure on what fish I will be adding but im thinking about Gouramis. Not sure on species but something cute and active with personality. Any Ideas on what I could do to make the tank Better? Also im adding a background soon and a lil more gravel :p lol....

I think a nice piece of driftwood would be a nice addition.. a background would be nice too, you could even decorate with a piece of cork pretty easily for a tank that size :D

The A. Ulvaceaus will fill your tank if it grows. Ihttp://community.webshots.com/sym/image4/3/66/52/71136652YagnFM_ph.jpg

This is the one I had. I recently traded it back to the LFS. It was covering the whole right hand side of my tank, and nothing else was growing well.

Pic won't show. you can click on pics below and see it though.

lol i know how fast that plant grows, i grow them from the seeds and they grow tons on runners, they just gotta be cut monthly to control yet are reall good for lightly planted tanks or people who want a plant who doesent die....

some people use cork as a background. You can buy cork rolls about 1/8 in. thick x 2ft x 4ft. and silicone it to your glass. You can also get pieces that look like branches and decorate with them that way. Here's a thread with some pics of cork used as decor: Cork (http://aquabotanicwetthumb.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=4006090712&f=1306023812&m=1836028832&r=9096082382#9096082382)

Here's a question: if you are going to the trouble of growing live plants (with C02 even!) why on earth would you use that ugly &%@ black and white gravel?

edit for language. og

I guess mommy spared out all of her pocket change to get youur big rich tanks right? I guess its all cool to be big and brawn owning a big fish tank nowadays.

And just for your minding of being a jackass im 16 and I pay for every single thing I own. Even for that ghetto black and white gravel you have to criticize about since my dad is dead, so what I get is what I use knowing we arent the richest people around.

Heres the pics you so call requested...

Hey it's in the dictionary guy. Look it up before you go all PC on me.

Anyway, glad you took my suggestion and changed the substrate. So tell me now, how is it a ghetto tank?

Cool. Although I phrased my suggestion a little inelegantly, my intent really was to steer you towards a natural looking substrate. Reason being that I think it's an injustice to see live plants in anything but.

Around these parts, natural gravel is much less expensive than coloured gravel anyway. I buy 100 lb. bags for $19.99, and thats in Canadian bucks.

Speaking of Canada I have a uncle in Ontario :). Yeah, I prefer the look of natural substrate than colored. Colored is more for a fun look or IMO, goldfish.
