It is the only brand of frozen fish food I will use. It is a well known trusted brand and it looks the freshest out of any other brand I have seen. It is also bio-encapsulated with multi-vitamins, which adds to the nutritional value.

The best. I use Hik Brine Shrimp and Blood Worms. My fish didn't seem to like the Daphnia too much. Nor did they like Sera FD Daphnia for that matter. I use Hikari pelleted foods as well. THey've really found a nice spot on the price/quality matrix.

I have purchased some of the frozen brine shrimp (orange label) and I'm having trouble with it.

There is a lot of cloudyness coming from these cubes. I've not had this problem before. Anybody else experiencing this? I prefer the cubes over the brick. I am wondering if the brick is showing similar quality issues.
Everything else is just great (spirulina brine shrimp [green], blood worms, etc..)

I use Hikari too (b-shrimp, blood worms, Mysis, daphina, and when I can find it --glass worms).
Summer---I always thaw the cubes first and drain the liquid out before feeding---this may help.

I've always used San Francisco Bay brand, myself. Sometimes I'll buy Ocean Nutrition. Haven't bought the Hikari yet.

Did you just copy what the label says? LOL

i prefer teh hikari. The worms seem to have better coloring and i can see a difference in my discus' response to hikari over other brands. I also liek the flat packs as they put two in one bag which makes it easier to break it off and prolongs its life a little more. It also seems to have a better consistency.
I just bought the blood worms this weekend. And, so far, I really like using this food. I drop one cube in the tank and sit back and watch the fun. First the little danio's attack, then the gouramis, then the tetras. Then the gouramis come back for more. Eventually it explodes and sends a fireworks like display of blood worms to the bottom to be picked off by the two new editions (krebs cichilds). The cories come last and clean up anything left over. Feeding done! Very nice and simple. Clean up is easy as well.

I bought the Hikari originally for my ADF, but since found out my guppies go NUTS over it. I feed them a small cube every day, and it is too funny to watch a guppy fry suck down one of those worms...
I want to try to get some of their other products, too.

I use them, but I prefer the Ocean Nutrition's spirulina brine shrimp and bloodworms a little better. Many of my fish are smaller, and the Hikari bloodworms seemed huge and they had a hard time eating them. Otherwise, the quality is really quite good, and the fish always go after their foods pretty readily.

i like hikari brand. never had a problem with cloudy water from them. i did notice that san francisco brand of mysis shrimp has a lot of contamination from random fish parts (looks like silversides heads), whereas the hikari stuff had no such contamination...

I just picked up some other stuff that I haven't tried yet this last weekend, so I can't really comment on them. Let's see, which were Hikari? I think I got plankton and Glassworm (white mosquito larvae). All the fish in the community tank went nuts for the Glassworms, and the mollies were pretty enthusiastic about the plankton this morning. Even the F8 puffer was fairly inquisitive, and he normally hangs back and doesn't try new foods readily. I didn't notice the bbgs, but they are good eaters as long as the foods get caught in the current.

I use the Hikari bloodworms also for my community tank. I have to say that every fish goes wild for it. I thaw it in some tank water in a small cup and then use a large turkey baster to feed it in small increments. I try to shoot a little on the bottom for the cories also and they gobble it up.

Thanks for the comments. All I am saying is that there is a tremendous difference between the green package (Spirulina) versus the orange package (regular). Maybe I just got a bad batch this time around. The spirulina comes out of the cube clean whereas this batch of regular stuff has a lot of residue embedded. I've never had this problem before. It must be a fluke. I will follow tanker's suggestion.
Yes the Hikari bloodworms are the best. :)
I do not believe I have seen Ocean Nutrition in my area. I will check back again to see if I find that brand. For the most part, I've only seen Hikari and San Francisco Bay Brand.

I just bought the algae wafers today, and my otos and pleco went nuts for them :) They never acted that way for the Wardley stuff, I can say that.

Strange... I have always used Hikari wafers too and my plecos and ottos love them. My LFS ran out 2 weeks ago so I bought the Wardleys instead--feels more gritty and my plecos also show less interest.
Looks like I just confirmed your problem too.
