Hello,
This is my first time to post on this site and I'm hoping someone can tell what this is. It looks like a 1/8" bread of white cualk has been run back and forth on the side of my tank. I dont know......what would any of you think it is? I have cortez cerith snails, I have red leged hermit carbs. I have one C.Chip star & one banded serpent star. There's a few fish and a shrimp, but I don't think it came form them. Thank you for any words of wisdom.

Too many snails....

Ok, its been awhile since I've posted. But what should I do with all these snails? When night time comes, there are atleast 100 baby snails just pouring out of the woodwork! Some are getting balls'y enough to stay out int the day time....
I know that in freashwater, two snails will very quicklly turn in to many, but I didn't think that would happen with my salt tank.
anyway, thanks for any words of wisdom.

If you're lucky and they are cerith babies, be happy. If you think it's too many, I would shocked if you couldn't find a home for them with local reefers.

From what I remember, though, ceriths have planktonic larvae, so they don't tend to reproduce very successfully except in very large systems. Are you sure they're ceriths?

no pis....

I wasn't able to get any clear pics, Most of them are about 1/4" of an inch long, they have the same type of shell as the cerith. I have one big turbo,(also the six cerith snails purchased a year ago) but these little guys have been there before I bought the turbo. I don't really use any machinical filter unless I have to. Do you think a larvi could make it through a power head or two in one piece? Or a skimmer for that matter? I don't know. I guess the pet store might want some when they get bigger.
Thanks again,
David
