I'm stuck at what to add to my tank. I just cleared out the final two cichlids so the inhabitants in a 55 are now 5 clown loaches 1 eruptis cat about 6 inches, and one similar cat about 5 inches.
i know i dont want cichlids but what in the world should I do with this tank.
schools of something crossed my mind.
smaller loaches, or cories crossed my mind. or a bunch of large gourami's or sharks
at the lfs i saw a shark c at that looked interesting but the owner said it woudltn be smart to risk it since it was rather small and the eruptis is 7 inches even though i've never seen him go at anyone.
so basically if this was your tank what would you want to add to it???

If it was my tank...cichlids.
What about some nice rainbows?
Don't get sharks. Sharks are for losers.

there are (i believe) as many if not more species of cichlid than there are tetras so dont rule them cout totally ;). just hit up all your LFS's ant look for something that catches your eye, or why dont you go throught the members tank section herer for suggestions

I agree the rainbows would be nice. One thing to consider--the bottom of your tank really is full. The cats and clowns have divied that space up, and are likely to harrass and abuse any new comer who wants to share--so that means no more cats, cories, sharks, or plecos. A school of rainbows would occupy the middle layer, and a few gouramies for the top--but you also need to be thinking about upgrading the tank. It's going to be really cramped as all those fish hit their adult sizes, and the clowns are likely stunted even now. Consider the average size for a clown at 12 inches, and even using the woefully inadequate 1 inch/gallon guide, you have 60 inches of just clowns.
Maybe a school of giant danios or maybe some larger barbs might be nice, and they might be tough enough to keep away from the catfish. A nice large gourami is always pretty, though they can get pretty big.

I wouldn't add fish that are too small since oyu syno.eupterus will probably find them to be a snack.Especially sicne they get up to 9"

I think rainbows go great with clown loaches. They are not just mindless schooling fish. The males will mock fight and display for females of any rainbow species. They will spawn over plants and clown loaches love the eggs. By mixing the species--reds, turquoise, boseman, affinis, etc, each male will show breeding colors, instead of just the alpha male.
BTW, I've had larger than 8" Eupterus (ii), and while they would eat anything they could get in their mouthes, they weren't 'hunt and kill' cats.

Ahh ye, rainbows sound good, the rainbows at the lfs around h ere are 12 bux, well i'm not sure what they are at the other ones, wetpets not sure if i ts a chain is the only place i like to buy fish becasue they keep the tanks as if they were tanks at home with their own emporers and heaters and all that. If i can find a good dealon rainbows that sound like great idea, i can't really buy a school at 12 bucks each bein on that college student budget.
GLad to hear that about hte cat. I've never seen my cat really do harm to anyone, chases around the smaller cat sometimes but never does any damage.
i wanted to add another eruptis if i could find someone workin at the pet store who didn't know what they were like the first time so i could get them for 4 bux instead of 25
