well guys here it is the start of the stand and the tank and the finished product 150g 6 1/2 ft long 2 ft wide 1 1/2ft tall 1/4" glass all the glass costed me $218 and to buy a tank would have costed me $525. my Turtles are going to
**** their tank!

well since u see the 2 cars in the backround
my other project is the 1969 camaro ss re built from bare block with my dad brand new everything on this motor with about 6k in it 400 horse,

oh lol and the mustang you see is my bros 1996 he did the same thing that i did its 5spd with a rebuilt 351 windsor with a demon 650 carb over 10k in that car about 400 horse(pish posh)

Well there are many good DIY glass tank articles out there, I assume you did a little research before starting? Here is a glass thickness calculator I found just doing a google search for 'calculating glass size for aquariums' http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/aquariumdiy/l/blcustomtank.htm But if your only filling it up part way obviously there is a lot less pressure on the glass.

About the seams...i am thinking of doing something like this myself...I have read a couple of projects and have a question about the joints/seams. I have seen some people do one bead of silicone on the glass to join it to another piece and count on the overflow to form a seal in the corner. I have seen other people that put the bead of silicon on the glass and then wipe off the overflow. When the silicon has had a chance to set and all the glass is assembled they go back and add another bead in the corners to seal the joint. I don't know if I am being clear or not. Which one is best to do? The one step or two step? The one step jobs that I have seen look messier but I am concerned not only about apperance but longevity.
 
if the bead of silicone is enough to make a smooth corner seal inside, by all means, go for it.. if not, then add more. i don't see the structural difference, only preferential.
