my fantail guppie has some sort of fin rot. where the fin is being eaten away it is bright red on a fish that does not naturally have that color. this started in the middle of the trailing edge and has crept like fire from that starting point.

since i addressed the source water problem the other guppie with this has gotten better and the couple of ich spots on the angel have dissapeared.

I would like to have an idea what the guppy has so I don't have to start trying remedies to see what works
 
Sounds like you've got a multitude of problems there. Have you cured the ich problem? If not, then you may have to go with a wide-spectrum medication that not only works against ich, but also against fungal and bacterial infections. Do you see white, cotton-like growths on the fish?
