I went to the website to see what you guys do and I didnt get the answer I was looking for. Maybe you can help? are you conservationist or do you just inform people of cichlids? If states are outlawing certian cichlids do you help loby against it? I saw the forum so I know you help the people that need it. Those were just a few of my questions

American Cichlid Association has not lobbied any lawmakers since 1999. Prior to 1999, I would not know as I was not a volunteer and thus did not know what Board of Trustees did and did not do. I would be amazed if prior to 1999, there was any organized effort to lobby for a cichlid ban of some sort.

Recently, an ACA member proposed that flowerhorns be admitted to ACA shows and allowed for sale with in ACA trading post. ACA Board of Trustees rejected this idea. While the Board was adament about not allowing flowerhorns at ACA shows or Trading Post, there was no discussion of how to harm or stop flowerhorn breeders or flowerhorn keepers in any manner.

Aquarium strain cichlids are allowed (discus, angels, apistos, peacocks, etc). There are an unknown number of ACA members that would rather these AS were not allowed. However for the last four years, there has been a special emphasis on discus at ACA shows. That is AS discus are proportionally a larger group than any other species at the show.
