is a pixy hawkfish (Cirrhitichthys oxycephalus) compatible with crustaceans like cleaner shrimp? i was curious because i was going to give mine to a friend and i wanted to make sure that it wouldn't pose any threat to its potential tank mates. on a side note i have seen this fish suck small hermit crabs out of their shells before, but they were really small hermits.

Hawkfish in general are not safe with inverts. A pixie might not pose an immediate threat to larger inverts, but I am guessing that it will hunt them down without mercy when they molt. I wouldn't put it in my tank. Sorry.

I have too agree. This is one of the most fiesty of Hawkfish. It will pick on almost any fish and eat most crustaens.
