Well I purchased a 125 gallon and decided to make it a (mostly)Discus tank.
Need ideas ( pics would be nice) on how to decorate/aquascape.
Note:The little ship is not staying in this tank. It was just placed in there from my 55 to help jump start the cycle.

A neighbor and myself built the stand. I still need to make a canopy.

Currently there are 9 Discus.
Any thoughts, ideas and photos would be appreciated.

You NEED good live plants, that will make them really happy, and maybe some mangrove style drift wood for shadows.

Another of the White Diamond
I didn't really want this fish. My wife and Niece picked it out. It has a good personality

Nice tank! If you are going to stay with plastic plants add more of them... Some more bogwood would help too.

Nice job on the stand. Great tank and love the Discus. If you're still working on the canopy, you should think about adding some compact fluorescent lighting if you want real plants. Try to get about 2 watts per gallon. If you get above 2.5 wpg, you'll need to think about fertilizers and injecting CO2. I think real plants add to the looks and water quality of an aquarium.

looks good but i would add live plants. going to make the water quality better and the discus are going to pop out more.

So what kind of live plants should I add ?
I have to admit I have only tried live plants a couple of times and usually they only last a couple of months, plus my 55 gal got infested with snails.

I love the look that live plants achieve, but I don't want to start with CO2 set-ups and light issues. The Discus seem to like it with less light:confused:
So what would you all reccomend ?

welll if you went with 2 AHsupply 96 watt kits you would have about 2 wpg, then you could order a warm water or discus plant package from any of the sites, for you tank size.

good call

you wil definitely want warm waterplants.

and taller driftwood pieces.

someone here went out and got some mangrove or cypress,..awesome stuff

IMO darker substrate will help bring out the colors more too

Nice tank, stand and discus! Definitely get larger driftwood, I prefer the malaysian and live plants are definitely possible low tech with no co2. I do it! Crypts, anubias, red tiger lotus, narrow and wide leave hygro, and java ferns all do very well in low tech setups. I would take the rocks out. If you do add more driftwood, please keep in mind that if discus startle, they will act like a ping-pong ball in the tank. Do not put driftwood in there that they could poke themselves with in a ping-pong situation.
