Hi all,

just wondering if there is a place on this site where people can have a look for second hand and buy (of give for free) second hand equipment etc for marine

there seem to be a number of people mentioning they may not be able to afford saltwater tanks.

maybe people have equipment that they want to give for free and the other person could just use paypal to pay them a postage cost

dont know if this would all be legal etc - just wondering what people think???

cheers

there is a place on this site on the main page on the bottom somewhere that offers it but the best thing to do is craigslist the area u are in and also find a reef club near by...i got amazing deals from both especially the reef club....the biggest thing to keep in mind is this isnt a cheap hobby...u cant go in (like i did) and think u are gonna spend 100 bucks and get a nice saltwater tank..i mean fish alone arent cheap..but to sum it up yes there is a place and if nothing on their check craigslist.com and check for a local reef club

join your local freecycle group at freecycle.org...tanks, equipment, and even fish pop up all the time....some people just don't realize the work and dedication that is needed for a healthy tank, so they give up,and give it away

I recently picked new 10 gallon bow front, complete with filter lid , and light

Thanks for the comments - I was just checking to see if there was because couldnt find it - i wanted to give the info to someone else - i already have mine setup and running - thanks for the advice though

cheers

If you buy used equipment I'd soak it in about a 12% bleach solution for around an hour ,"it's called over kill." Then rinse WELL and soak in a bucket over night.

check craigslist. ive gotten a 10 gallon 20 gallon 40 gallon 28 bow front two filters lace rock and even fish!! im also getting some more stuff tomorrow....yay!

Wow talk about bringing back a dead thread.
