Hello everyone again. I finally ordered me some plants off of ebay today and was wondering if you think I got the right kind for a beginner. They are going into a 29gal. and its currently going through the cycle (started yesterday (9-20-07))

  • Java Fern (1)
  • Bacopa monnieri (1)
  • Amazon Sword (1)
  • Marble Queen Sword (2)
  • Anubias Barteri (1)
I bought the from Aquadise off of ebay. One last thing can you please tell me were to put them in the tank (ex. front, back, or middle)?
Thanks in advance!!!

Aquadise occasionally "randomizes" an order, but the plants you've listed should all do well in a 29, at least for a while... Those swords (at least the Amazon one) will want to get a lot bigger than a 29 can handle.

What lighting do you have and what (if anything) do you plan to do with respect to ferts, CO2 etc. etc.?

Thats what i need help with, im not sure what to use as fert. I have heard on these plants you dont have to add any fert., but it will help if you do. Im not sure what light i have, im not near my tank, but whenever i am i will look and let you know.
Thanks:help:

What about this light? Will 40w light work?

sorry you guys, i forgot to put in the link to the light. So will this light work for the plants?:help:

Sword plants are heavy root feeders and will need some kind of "Root Food".

what is some good "root food"

please tell me were to put them in the tank (ex. front, back, or middle)?

I would plant the way you listed. Java Fern to Anubia. Left to right. Either swords in the middle and Bocopa spread around. You really do not have any foreground plants.

The Amazon Sword and Marble Queen both get quite large compared to the other plants you listed so I'd plant them where they have a lot of room to fill out. My largest Amazon Sword would almost entirely fill a 24"x24"x24" cube. So I would not plant them too close to the corners or sides of the tank.

I have anubius nana planted in front of near the base of my large sword so that it partially shaded by it and it is doing well there and looks great.
