Ive been keeping fish successfully for 10 years or so, but I don't think I have the green thumb for keeping plants healthy. I did a water change two days ago on my 45 gal planted. Yesterday I noticed that my jungle val and my as-yet-unidentified plant (potentially hygrophila) were looking brown. Today they were worse. My anacharis and cabomba look pretty good, but not the other two. I have a 96 watt coralife pc fixture with the 6700K bulb. I don't use CO2 (bit too complicated for me) just ferts. Flourish for co2, root tabs, and iron and potassium supplements with every water change. anybody have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? BTW, i suspect my nitrates may be too low, and this could be part of the problem. mine were at 10 ppm yesterday after the water change. where should they be in a relatively lightly-planted tank? thanks in advance!
