I was curious about some of the dosing instructions. From all the articles it says to plant heavily and dose such and such, etc. Well, I've been going through some of the newbie mistakes with plants and lost some. I am happy to say that the plants I have left are finally starting to look good and grow with no algae outbreaks! The question I have is, what if you only have 5 or 6 plants in a 120G tank?! Do you still dose to achieve 10ppm of KNO3, 2ppm of K, etc. etc.??

5-6 smaller plants (sag, val, crypts.) no. Depends on the plants too. But in general no. Most of the bigger plants (sword, ect) are root feeders anyway.

With that light of a plant load and the fish load you have you could get away with not dosing. The fish should give you enough nitrates and water changes should fulfill the other needs.
