I wrote about gauramis dying in front of your eyes and some really bizzare things happening in my tank that I could not explain.... I had a kissing gaurami actually amost explode from a what looked like a boil comming out of the side of it...Well, This tank came from a friend who knew a friend and the tank leaked, He used bath and kitchen silcon to seal it.... I didn't realize it but , yes the silcon was a milky white and not a greenish tint as you would expect...
Cause this tank has been around a while.
Guess i learned a lesson... We have 7 other tanks fresh water and never seen anything like what this did to the fish.
i thought i was going nuts.....Sorry if you thought I was too...

what size tank is it?

but the silicone may be polluting the tank, you will ned to get aquarium safe silicone, if u choose to re do it.

Isn't "aquarium" silicone just 100% clear silicone??? I mean, does it have to say "aquarium safe" on it? I suppose any colored silicone is bad, obviously......

they had clear stuff that said "not for aquariums" on it when i bought some. you sort of have to scan the labels. it's alot less about color and alot more about contents. i'm sure they have white that will work the same as the opaque stuff that's normally used and i think black used to be popular for some reason........

edit: sounds like the stuff used on the tank had a mold inhibitor or whatever it is in it. fungicide? herbicide? if it was kitchen and bathroom silicone it probably had it in it. especially if nothings growing on it......... if you want more info, email me or pm me and i'll see if i can find a tube to get specifics, i probably have some downstairs.

sorry about your losses.... :(
