my kenya tree shrunk and i have no idea why. what would make some kenya trees look good while others shrink? parameters are okey and all other corals are fine. there was an issue with dirty water for some time becaue of some black dust comming into the house from near by business, but i bought the glass and finally covered the top. did few water changes and those kenya trees that didn't look good, came back while those that looked normal don't look good anymore. any ideas? thank you

If you have a lot of coral in close proximity, they might be doing the 'chemical warfare' thing. I'd probably try moving it, if possible, and see how that does.

still not looking good. i have a theory, but have to test it first. i'll give you my opinion if it will appear to be the right one. one of kenya trees had to be cut some because of started infection. another tank appears to have somewhat the same problem with one of my fox coral branches not looking good. i'm getting to the bottom of this and soon should know or not know what went wrong. thank you all

I would run activated carbon in the tank. I would think that when you trimmed your coral it made well angry... and it released chemicals into your water causing other corals to become grumpy and do the same. It can be a self feeding process . I'll admit that this is a guess but, it's the first and most obvious thing to come to mind.

i cut the coral way after everything started. i think that the problem is Seachem Marine Buffer. I usually use Kent Marine dkh buffer, but this time i used SMB. the reaction started almost right away and the corals didn't look all that great after the water change with this product in the new water. while back i had similar reaction of the corals to Kent Marine RO Right, but the reaction was so bad that all xenia died overnight and other corals looked beat up. Kent Marine didn't have any comments on that and didn't take the bottle back for testing. interesting things that i found out though, is that not only Seachem Marine Buffer has the same or similar ingridience as those in Kent Marine RO Right, but also the two companies used to be one company that split away into two. last night i did another water change and today corals are comming around and looking better already in one tank and fox coral looks normal again in another. for this new water change Kent Marine Buffer dkh was used, a product i always used to buffer my water and everything quickly comming back to normal. i say, if something works, stick to it and don't try other products. one pieace that i cut off of kenya tree had made it and so did the kenya tree itself.
