im looking for a wholesaler who can hook me up with tropical fish. mainly looking to get tetras, catfish...the works. nothing exotic or rare. my normal wholesaler left ny.
 
i apologize what i mean is a supplier or someone who knows one locally. im not looking for 100's of fish just decently priced fish so i can get 15 or so of each without going bankrupt. any help is appreciated.
 
This might be a dumb question...but have you tried google-ing "NY tropical fish wholesale" ..or similar??? substitute "NY" with city name if not in NYC...
 
tried it without any luck. most wholesalers need a minimum order of a few hundred dollars and will only sell to pet stores or people with a pet store liscence. thats why im looking for anyone with supplier connections locally who can help a guy out.
 
Yeah, sometimes you don't know without calling 'em whether they will sell 12 tetras or if you have to buy 1200! :)

I checked into a few here in NE Ohio, same deal...minimum $200 ish.

thanx. im learning not to rely on friends especially when im the one putting the money down. im gonna hope someone sees this ad otherwise i will just wait until my guy reutrns in march.
 
There are a number of aquarium clubs in the NYC area -- many members are breeders and regularly auction fish at monthly meetings. Have you tried making any connections?
 
i have been to the auctions and they are amazing but i need to get a bunch of fish at once and cant bid for specific things over 6 months lol. plus most things up for bid were rare or uncommon in the hobby. why would anyone breed harlequin rasboras for a living unless they had the facility to produce and sell thousands. no money in cheap common fish for private breeders.
