We placed and planted our first order of plants. Although we inspected them, we still got pond snails in our aquarium. They're not a huge problem right now, we seem to be keeping them at bay by simply killing them as we see them.

Question is, we are about to put in a new order for plants...

I've read some articles about different kind of soaks or dips for the plants to kills the snails before the plants are even planted. I know some of them (like bleach solutions) are really harmful to the plants though. I also read about salt soaks though, any ideas? Can we, should we? If so, what kind of salt? Do we rinse in separate container of aquarium water or tap or de-chlorinated water? If not, any other ideas beside trusting our eyes??

What's wrong with a few snails?? They only eat dead and dying plants.

If you need a safer dip try Alum.

i dont mind the snails but many people seem to do bleach dips.

you would want a separate container to dip them in. dump the water out and wash the plants off really well. if using bleach make sure to add extra dechlorinator.
