My guppy is/ just had babies! what can I feed them?

She just had them and may be having more. I cought two and saw a third get eaten before I could catch it. I put the two that I cought in a 1 gallon with water, some sand and a piece of anacharis from the main tank. The questions:
1. Will she be having more? the ones I saw were tiny like less than a centimeter.
2. What can I feed the fry? I dont have any way of getting brine or other live foods. I figured there were probably some microorganisms in the anacharis.
3. Can I aerate the 1 gallon tank? I have an air pump but no airstone stone though if needed I can go get one.
4. How many fry do guppys have at once? This is her first batch, I didnt think she was even old enough to breed yet.

Guppies usuallky have anywhere from 5-15 babies at a batch. The anachris may have food for the short term. You can feed finely crushed flake food--really grind it down to a powder, and then watch to be sure they are eating it.

If you don't have a long term plan for the fry, it might be easiest to let them remain in the tank. The strongest will hide and survive. Otherwise, you can be quickly over run with guppies, and few LFS will give you money for them as more than feeders if you don't have a unique line.

Is the pope Catholic? This is a definate yes. A female can have anywhere to a few to about 20. It depends how big she is. If she is still plump and fully round. Start looking for more. She will have young every 21-28 days if my memory serves me correct.

Crushed flake food will work. Most livebearer fry are not too picky. They will eat about anything they can fit into their mouths. The anacharis, if it has been in an aged tank, it may have micros that they can munch on.

You can areate if you like, if you do, i would get one of those small filters that should do the trick for the time being but you may want to move them up to their own tank. A five gallon would work short term til adult hood.

Thanks. I tried the crushed flake and they seemed to like that. They just keep cruising around the anacharis. It is from a tank thats b een up a little less than a year.
