I have a question... I need to move my 2 barilius and 3 barbs and 1 pleco from my 30 gal tank because it is leaking, so I need to reseal it... I found a tank today that's between 20 and 30 gallons, and it seems to hold water (so far)... so I guess my question is: can I simply transfer the water from my 30 gal, use the same top filter (aquamaster 250) and switch the fish over to the other tank without harming the fish? they will probably be stored in this other tank for 2 days, then I could transfer everything back... will this work? the leaking tank needs fixing pretty bad... thanks

You will probably want to move some of the substrate as well. Other than that, it should work fine.

Just remove the top 1/2 inch of the substrate and transfer it other than that I think your fine.

I finished moving my fish today... resealed the tank and let silicone cure 5 days, so no adverse effects should happen there... the barilius wanted out of the bucket I kept them in during gravel transfer that they were jumping into the piece of wood I put over bucket to keep them in... also went and bought filters to set up my 20 gal fish in the 30/35 I picked up for this project, so the lfs is getting a little richer due to my addiction to this hobby...

I wouldn't have thought to throw some gravel in with them, and they were in that tank for a couple weeks instead of days...
