maybe a severum? looks similar, although the coloration looks different.

it is a Cichlasoma synspilus or Red head cichlid.

my guess was a synspillum too.... i never kept one tho.

you should post this in cichlids so the guys/gals that might have one will answer.... not my kind of cichlid, like i said.
