Boston Mass
so i went to an asian super market and i was walking around and then i saw a dozen of tanks.
in one tank they had eels and in another they had tilapia
i decided to buy two of the tilapias both around 6in and when i brought them home i dumped them in a cycled warm softwater fish tank with snails in it.
the next day i was seeing that they had fungus so i treated them and three hours later i found hundreds of worms dieng on the bare tank floor so i took out the snails and let the parasites die
i then put them into my 55 gallon sa cichlid fish tank were one died the next morning and now i have one left
its been in there for a week and 2 days and it has not eaten anyting
the ph is good
the nitrates and other specifs are good since i have two filters and an air pump to clean all the waste
the only thing that the fish is interested in doing is digging
why isnt he feeding and what should i feed him:rant2::flamed::hypnotized:

Tilapia eat almost anything.

What are the water parameters in the 55?

It could still have a parasite. Don't lose hope, tilapia are as tough as they come. It will also most likely outgrow your 55 depending on which species it is.

Try a live insect or two, crickets are usually a good way to jump start a finicky eater.

aren't tilapia vegetarians? there are wild ones where i live and you cannot catch them unless you throw a net. they don't bite on anything.

Hi genesis. I was wondering where you purchased your tilapia? I'm in Boston as well. You said you purchased it at a super market? Maybe the fish wasn't fresh or something? They're usually eaten..
