I finally found a group of 8 pygmy cories at my local Ace Hardware, if you can believe it. I have been looking for these little guys for a while and occasionally see a couple at a time at the "big LFS". Last time I asked there, the guy told me that they were $3.99 each! They are awfully cute, but geez, $3.99 for a teeny tiny little grey fish? The ones I found at Ace were only $0.99 each! They look pretty healthy, although a couple have torn caudal fins. I hope they will grow back.

Just wanted to share my excitement over finally finding these little cuties...

The one in Davis, Ca does. It's the only one that I've come across. They have a garden center, pet center, home furnishings and the usual hardware and lumber. The guy who takes care of the fish has been there for at least the past six years.

Ours don't here in northern Colorado. Lucky you! We had 25 little pygmy's at my work place for a couple months for 1.99 I think. They were very cute and so tiny. It would be a cool tank to have a tank of Sparkling Gouramis, school of pygmy cories, and an oto, for some of the smallest common freshwater fish. It would be a cute tank. Anyway, good luck with the little guys.

I've got a school of 5 hasbrosus corys, and a seperate group of 4 pygmaeus corys. The Hasbrosus look and act much more like full size corys. The have a favorite cave and a nearby nymphea, and one pair breeds prolifically. the young are quickly eaten . They are my favorites, and look and act just like full size corys in every way,

The pygmaeus are a different kind of fish swimming more off the bottom, and sometimes schooling with tetras . Pygmaeus are differnt looking, with a rounder head and snout, more of a standard fish look, anthough they are certainly catfish.

I've had both species for more than a year. Their color has gotten a little more vivid, but they stay very small, under an inch. My Elephant nose hates catfish, and I had to remove a full size cory. He has no problem with these litle guys. I keep them in a 46 gal. community tank, soft, acid water, lots of plants which they love, no problems at all.
