Hi all,

So I'm moving towards a FOWLR tank and am thinking I need to up the circulation a bit. Right now I've got a 1200 gph return pump...and that's it. I'm thinking of adding some Hydor Koralias. I'm just not sure which model(s). I'm not really sure how much I should up the flow. I'm guessing if I needed to go up 1200 gph it would be better to get two 600's instead of one 1200...what do you guys have to say? BTW...are these things adjustable, or do they only put out what they're rated?

Thanks, Jamie

they are not adjustable but they are the best in my opinion. give the best flow for a tank its a larger cone than a normal power head.

A point to note here is that you wont be getting 1200gph flow from a 1200gph sump pump due to head height, restrictions etc etc..You really want to be aiming around 3000 gph for your tank, and i would suggest your getting maybe around 800 - 900 gph from your sump pump..

I would personly go for 2 koralia 3 powerheads, maybe even 4's..depending on the ammount of flow you want to achieve..

I've got a 150.

I think I'll go for two koralia 3's while it's just LR in there. Once I get a suitable lighting set up next year (Ummm...can you say tax return :grinyes: ) I'll add a couple more. I think this would allow for the most options regearding setup of the system...ie I would be aiming four of these guys where I want them instead of just 2.

Listen Buy the #4's This is what i have in my tank. Maxi-jet 1200 , Koralia #2 and a #4 I also have my Rena xp3 Running too.

I have a 120 gal! So deff get the #4's I know they cost about 50 bucks but i know they are worth it!

wow i didnt realize how many people run multi power heads, like 4+ had no idea that it was so recomended to run a tank like that.
