Does anyone know if they sell kribensis cichlids at petsmart or petco. I'm totally new to cichlids and the ones at petsmart are labeled "Assorted African Cichlids".

Also, if anyone has had any luck breeding kribs or has any advice, I would appreciate their response.

Make sure you get a positive ID at the store before buying. I don't know the chain stores myself but Kribensis, being the popular fish it is, would most likely be found from time to time...?
For more info on Kribs, take a look at:

I have never seen them there, but I have also never seen FH there and I read about people getting FH there all of the time, so maybe the ones by me just don't carry the same fish as others.

Kribs are in every single LFS by me though. If you look in the yellow pages you could propably find one.

I have never seen Kribensis in any "Assorted Cichlids" tank. Usually in those tanks they are fish from the Rift Lakes that many times nobody knows for sure just what they are because of cross breeding. These would all be 'hard' water fish whereas the Kribs need softer water conditions.

The kribs don't come in in the Asst. batch. They have their own area, or at least they should. Most of the times also you won't find them in the cichlid area, as they can live in a faster moving community tank, so they'll be a few tanks away.
