I needed some clarification on dsb. I have read a lot of post in here of using play sand. I also read a post in here some place of using play sand, with 20-30% live sand. I did buy some live sand today, and nearly fell out when I payed for it. 47 dollars for 20 lbs........... can you say no vasaline. Is it necessary of not to mix live sand with play sand, or was the livesand a substitute for using cocktail shrimp........ keep in mind that I am cycling an aquarium.

thanks in advance fellas

one last thing, I am not apposed to spending the money, if it is better to use live sand. I am apposed to spending the money if it is worthless, or a waste of money.

Loved your first post...pass the vasaline! LOL

I'm pretty much a newbie to sw, so take my advice to seriously. In my research to date I haven't seen much pro or con on using live sand. To me it seems like a waste of cash, better spent on live rock.

Just my 2 cents!, Chris

No you dont need to live sand.
It is good if you can get some.
Dont supposed you know anyone with an established saltwater aquarium?
Taking a half kilo or less even from their tank would be a great idea. They can always throw in some more play sand to make up the difference...
