angel tankmate suggestions

People have reported mixed results keeping angelfish and neons together. The neon is the natural prey of angelfish in the wild. I have Cardinals with them which seems fine. The Cardinals get larger than the neons. Cories don't eat algae but Ottocinclus do and would work well if your tank is planted. I have those with the angels. It's been recommended to have ten gallons per angel at maturity so I would think that you could have a small school of cardinals, a couple of ottos, and maybe even two or three cories in the tank.

these two in the past with great results, if you keep the neons in a small group they will be fine, at the size your angel fish are now they wont be preying on anything for quite sometime, however if they grow to their ful potentioal then maybe at that time they might pursue eating your neons, but for now as in the next yr or so they will be fine, i woul just provide penty of plants etc, also any live bearers, platies , mollies, sword tails mix great with angels IME, also you can keep them with gouramis but i woul only keep them with smaller ones for now as larger gouramis can sometime be slightly territorial and give chase, your fish shoul hold their own and are a great choice , but for now they will be a peacefull commmunity fish, i hear when they get real large they can becoem a little aggresive then - also your angels will like a bit of brine shrimp from time to time its a great treat they go nuts for it!!! have fun with the angels
