Evaporation - 80gjoe?

Being from Orlando, do you get a significant amount of evaporation in your pond? I have one 8 x 10 x 2 that is connected to another that 11 x16 x2.5 by a canal. This is a fairly new set up and I have been losing about 1/2 - 1" of water a day. I can't find any leaks. That sure seems like a lot of evaporation. I do need more pond cover, currently I have one large water lily in each pond. The small pond is about 50% covered and the large about 25%. It isn't a very shaded area, I have added new trees and plants but they don't shade much yet.

Yes, we get lots of evaporation!

Do you have any pics of your pond?

It's strange how evaporation rates can vary so much....

I will get some pics in the next couple of days. I am adding a another large lily today. We lost a couple of balas yesterday, I think due to birds, it was during the day and there is no sign anywhere. We do have a bullfrog that comes around at night, but the fish must be steering clear.
