I have a 2.5 gallon hex, completely covered except for a small feeding hole. Inside I kept two african dwarf frogs and one otto (who did a wonderful job as janitor).

Two days ago I noticed the otto was nowhere to be seen, I looked all over the tank but just assumed he was out of site in some nook somewhere. I've since moved the rocks and such in the tank around, as well as checked for little fishy corpses around the outside of the tank... and it appears that the otto has just up and vanished.

I was wondering if it was possible that the frogs killed and ate the poor little guy? Or maybe he died quietly and they just made a meal of him? I wouldn't think they'd eat something that large since they usually eat frog pellets.

Just seems odd that I haven't found anything of the poor little fellow. :(

Also, should I risk buying another otto if they have a taste for sushi now?

they could have killed the otto. i have read about the frogs killing fish. but i neaver had any of mine do so. you could buy another one but if it is the frogs you dont want to buy them for the frogs to eat.

Oto's really need to be kept in groups of at least three. He is probably frozen and hiding, wondering where his buddies are. If he is still alive, a couple more Oto's in the tank should bring him out.
