new pond!

Aloha!

For my birthday, my parents bought me a little... LITTLE... 50 gallon pond. I was wondering if maybe two goldfish might be okay in there? I already have a lot of help with the waterplants and all I gotta do now is dig and dig and dig!

I would think that 2 in a 50g pond would be ok. Until he dropped a bottle of algae kill inour pond, we had 14 goldfish that grew from about 1" to about 8" in one year. Since draining the pond and re-cycling it, we have added 21 goldfish that have already grown to about 3". They get along great and tend to school when a shadow passes over the pond, be it human, bird, or airplane!:D

Two in a 50 gallon is great! They'll be huge in no time whatsoever as long as you get some good plant coverage to keep out the pests (I don't know if you have raccoons in Hawaii.. lol) such as birds, cats, pesky herons *shakes fist!* I lost most of my goldfish to being eaten and being caught in the pump. But your situation sounds quite ideal and I'm sure that they'll be over 6 inches in 6 months!

Aloha and Thank you for your response! I will start clearing the area for the pond this week and I am so excited as to what kind of possibilities lie ahead for the design of this project.

Thanks for the comments on the goldfish... I will hopefully have the pond up and going by the middle of August.

Thanks for all of your comments. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii in the lil port town of Hilo. I hope that my pond works out well. I plan to throw in some swordtails for mosquito control as well as the two lil goldfish.

Anyone have a small pond like mine, around 50 gallons?
