Times dark red
Dear Everyone,
Houston, we have a problem here. Now here's the deal ....
Like I have mentioned earlier, I have a 40 gallon right now with two Red Bellies and they are thriving and doing fine for the most part, HOWEVER, I don't know if they're mating or gonna tear each other to shreds. Here's what they're doing; they either sit apart at opposie ends of the tnak staring at each other and one fish will go tearing right up to the other one and pretend to bite it and swim away. Either that or when the light is on, they wag back and forth VERY quickly like you're holding their tail wigling them back and forth and they get kinda darker too. Now I've HEARD this is what happens when they mate however is this what's happening or are they trying to kill each other ?? Seems like a pretty **** weird way to mate if you ask me. They don't bite each other they just swim up side to side and wiggle back and forth, and open their mouths as wide as possible and pretend to bite each other and sometimes they do but it's NOTHING serious believe me if they wanted to kill each other I'm sure they would've by now. When I turn the light off for the night, they seem to snuggle right up close to each other and get along just fine however they are Pirahnas they tear around like idiots in the dark trust me I know :p If anyone knows how or has seen them breed before PLEASE let me know what the hell is going on with these stupid fish if you have a chance or know what you're talking about if you've owned them before. By the way folks in reply to my earlier post about filters, I have some news for you all. Emps are ****, hey if you like 'em, good for you I'm not buying some ridiculously overpriced filter for $200 when I can get an AC 500 for just under $80 which have twice the surface volume of an Emp 400. Look at the size of the media for the AC 500 everyone and tell me the emp even comes close to it. Those little spondges aren't sheeit compared to the ones for an AC 500 even the diference between an AC 300 media next to the 500's media is stupid. Another thing, now I have nothing against all you Americans I have relatives all over the USA ok ??? Here's the deal, your plastic injection molding processes SUCK. Yeah the Emp is softer plastic because it's SHAT. Aquaclears are made by Hagen which is a VERY reputable company I'm sure each and every one of you has heard the name Hagen before right ??? Hagen Aquaclear filters are made in Denmark which is the world's leader in injection molds and I'm not ****ting you folks, it's true I phoned 30 pet stores here and they all said the same thing to me, Emps suck they are cheaply made and the motors AREN'T more powerful and they are SICKLY expensive and impossible to find and get parts for. No offence folks but my choice is quite obvious it seems I think I'll be going AC all the way I've NEVER had or heard of any friends having probs with them at all for as long as I've owned fish (pretty much since I was born) even the older models I still see used and they work just fine as long as you maintain them properly. I guess it's a matter of personal choice but than again I'm not about to go out and try something new after using AC forever. Take it easy everyone and I'll keep you posted on the "kids" .
