I have an aquarium that is holding a 30 gal long on bottom and a 29 gal. on top. The stand is iron. I added the 29 on top, and now the stand is VERY wobbly! (whenever you jump or bump it) How can I make it not wobbly? Someone once told me that they did it by attaching stand to wall by chains.

Any help would be very mcuh appreciated!!

Maybe putting one iron bar from the bottom right to the top roght and one iron bar from the bottom left to the top right. That would make an X and a very sturdy stand. The only issuse is the bars crossing, meaning blocked on of the bars.

The problem is of course the weight on the top is more than half of the weight on the bottom.

If the top tank is twice as high from the ground as the bottom tank then the leverage it applies when tilted is 2 x weight, hence it is actually applying a leverage of a 58 gallon equivalent.

The best and safest is to eliminate all wobble by using a masonry drill to attache a solid bracket to the wall and the stans at both back corners. Also the stang ought to have square feet on it at least 10cm x 10cm (approx. 4inches x 4 inches) and not be on carpet or floorboards as the local "loading" under the feet casues depressions in the flooring. Put on to chipboard base is a good idea, but any way the answer is to use solid brackets.
