I just bought 4, 2 inch oscars with the hopes of a couple of them eventually pairing up. I already had a 4 inch and 5 inch pictus cat in the tank... well the smallest oscar is missing and the pictus has a huge swell in his stomach... :-(

well my conclusions after thinking for hours and hours that the cat ate the oscar

but........... some other ending for that poor oscar have also poped into my mind

1)the oscar morphed into the pictus cats stomach
2)the pictus cat ate a rock and the oscar jumped out of the tank
3)the pictus cat is pregnant and the oscar is in the filter

either 1 of these has a good chance of being correct lol

or he could have died and is now somewhere in the tank/filter that you cannot see.

Big fish eat small fish. It doesn't matter what kind they are or how big they eventually get....

Well i scoured the tank today, and he is for sure gone.. not in the filters either, and there's no way to the floor. Yea, i know big fish eat little fish, but if you seen the sizes of the fish you would be pretty amazed. I'll take the other 3 oscars out for a couple of months till they grow a bit. The oscar that was eaten was the smallest of the four tho.

I've had a Jaguar get eaten by a cat before too.... the jag was about 2 inches also, but not by the same cat. That was a pretty big shocker too, man that cat looked deformed, it looked like on the cartoons when a character swallows some kind of object and you can see the outline in it's stomach.

could the oscar have just died and been scavenged by the cat?

I'm thinking that if the three remain and were the larger ones, there probably isn't a need to remove them at this point... and oscars grow fast from what I've heard, so they won't be small for long...

story time...

my friend had 4 oscars with a tiger shovelnose catfish. it ate the smallest oscar, so he just thought i was smaller and left the catfish in there. when he came home from the weekend 2 days later, only one oscar remained...
