So I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to put cypress wood in my BW tank. If I remember correctly, the GSP I have in there needs a PH of 8. Will the cypress lower the PH too much? Are there any other drawbacks? :help:

Thanks...

Woods do not leach heavy amounts of tannic acids over time. Depending on your hardness levels, I don't think it will lower the pH much.

I have always used driftwood in my BW tanks without problem.

Cypress, in particular, is a very water-logged tolerant wood and shouldn't cause too much trouble.

occasional pH checks are never a bad idea.
