has anyone heard of otto cats eating hikari algea tablets? do they actually like it? i ask this because my tank is almost bare of algea so i bought these algea tablets. how do i ensure that they eat it and not the ghost shrimps or my corys? thanks!
I don't have any otos, but thats what I hear people do because they eat all of the algae in the tank and then they need another source of food, so those tablets are usually what they give.
Hikari Algae wafers are the single most popular food I ever feed. My farlowellas fight over them, the otocinclus swarm them, cories adore them, ghost shrimp love them, the snails try to cover them up, and even my tetras can grab a whole one to play "keep away" with.
On the days I feed them I don't feed anything else and just let everyone go at it. I have recently started breaking them into pieces so that more fish get a good chance at a chunk.
I have found that my ottos ignore them.... is there a way to kind of let them know that the wafers are there for them? Or is it just that there is enough algae to keep them from getting hungry enough for a wafer?
I have 2 otos and 6 panda corys and they all LOVE Hikari algae wafers. I usually see my 2 otos sitting on top of the wafer while the corys go crazy trying to break pieces off the sides. Surprisingly the otos don't budge when the corys start to go after the wafer. I just happen to think I have extra hardy otos as they've been with me for 4 years now.
