i am running two power heads in my 10g. one is a marine land 1140 and the other is a aquatic gardens 600. the 1140 is rated at 300 gph and the 600 is rated at 200gph. is this to much flow for my 10 gal.

Your flow is running at 20x the tank volume per hour, which is reasonable. If you plan on keeping corals, you can even go higher. As long as the flow is not stirring the sand up you are OK.

that is the problem i can't position the larger power head not to stir up the sand. well its not stirring it up it is just moving it. it isn't causing a sand storm. i finally got it to stop moving the sand but it caused a big divit in the sand which i guess is okay since it isn't doing it any more. right???

That looks like 50x. Am I wrong?

will the 200gph be okay. if so would i just position in one of the corners pointing to the front of the tank. or should i point it long ways to hit my rock work dead on. and yeah that is 50x

Oops - you're right. I misread tank size. 50x is pushing it. Try going w/ 1 of the pumps. Either one will give plenty of flow.

I've read were people have 100x turnover and their tanks look good. I think as long as it's not causing a sandstorm, your okay.
