Hey guys, I notice that www.planetcatfish.com gets a lot of face time on this site, but there's another great cat site out there.

www.scotcat.com has impressed me many times in the recent past...they take requests for "factsheets of the month", and will give you credit for the request if you do it first and there aren't a whole ton of people trying to request that species...

I especially encourage you to check out the factsheets from March and June. These were requested by yours truly, and will help you to better understand two oft-overlooked species of cats, the Black-Spotted Cory (Corydoras ambiacus) and the Tadpole Madtom (Notorus gyrinus). I don't think that you'll be disappointed by the info provided in those two factsheets, nor will you be disappointed in the info provided in any of the myriad of other ones available to you.

I still like the Cat-e-log at Planet Catfish for its coverage and how well it aids identification of lesser-known cats, but I think that ScotCat is also an invaluable tool in the catty side of aquaristics.

Yeppers! I didn't plan on staying away this long, but the homefront and its pathetic connection forced me to do so...anyone wanna pay broadband bills for my parents? That way I can be on 24/7...:D

And now, check out this month's factsheet...I'm on a roll there this year! Fun trivia question: which cichlid parasitizes this catfish?

What a sneaky cichlid! Thanks for the link to that site. It was really helpful. I just got 4 cories, 2 of which were sold as "spotted". Those 2 didn't look the same, but I liked them, so I got them. As it turns out one is Corydoras agassizii and the other is Corydoras trilineatus. The other two are Corydoras paleatus.

I've never had cories before, but I think I'm already hooked! They're so much fun to watch!

No prob! After looking in one of my books, I had my spotted Cory, Amber, down to one of two choices, but ScotCat's photos nailed down the fact that she's a C. ambiacus...and they did a factsheet on them for me! I'll always spread the word about that site after all that they've already done for me. :)

BTW, I love my Cories, too! If I had a long, wide, and low tank, I'd make it a Corydoras spp. genus tank! :)
