Moving up to a 55 wednesday when it comes in, from my 29g. Right now im mainly doing fish, i have liverock and plenty of mushrooms, but i want to get a few more fish to liven the tank moving into this 55. I have the following now :
1Coral banded shrimp
1yellow tang
1maroon clown
2 percula clowns
1 damsel
I know im going to get another yellow head jawfish, i think i want maybe 2 more fish? wouldnt mind something like a regal tang and powder blue surgeon fish? What do you guys think?

I am relatively new to saltwater, but in my opinion, the fish you have now are plenty for a 55 gallon. How long is your tank. Tangs need no less than 4 feet in length. I also am surprised that the clowns get along. Does the damsel cause any problems? Two tang in an aquarium that size does not sound good. I am sure you will get more replies from more experienced people.

Agreed. The size of the tank matters.
I did not fully comprehend this until I added an angel fish to my 1oo.
Constant swimming back and forth all day long.
Has anybody had success with a tang or a dwarf angel in a 55 gallon for an extended period of time?

It depends on what you call success. Is just keeping them alive sucess? Then many can say yes. If it is keeping them healthy and growing naturally; then a whole lot fewer can claim sucess.
The fish you already have should be fine in a 55. Thge jawfish is unlikely to even survive with the fish you already have, unless he is the first fish in the tank and has a couple of weeks to get acclaimated first. The other two you mentioned are terrible choices for a 55. It would be cruel to put either in a 55 for any lenght of time. Plusw they would probably be beating up by the fish you already have.
